What is a Blocked user?
A Blocked user is a user whose account has been restricted by an admin. Blocked is similar to Inactive - the user loses access to the app and is not counted as an active user - but with one important difference: a Blocked account cannot be reactivated through standard actions. Only an admin can change a Blocked user's status back to Active.
How does Blocked differ from Inactive?
Both Blocked and Inactive users lose access to the app and stop counting toward your active user count. The key difference is what happens when someone tries to reactivate the account:
Inactive: The account can be set back to Active through standard flows (by the admin, or through actions that would normally trigger an upgrade).
Blocked: Any attempt to change the user's status to Active - whether through an automation, a bulk action, or a standard flow - will return an error. The only way to reactivate a Blocked account is for an admin to change the status directly.
Use Blocked when you need to ensure an account cannot be reactivated accidentally or automatically - for example, for users with outstanding issues, access violations, or accounts that require explicit admin review before returning.
How do you set a user to Blocked?
Open the user's account profile in the admin dashboard
Locate the Status line
Select Blocked from the status options
How do you reactivate a Blocked user?
Only an admin can change a Blocked user's status back to Active. Automations, bulk actions, and standard user flows will not be able to override the Blocked status.
Open the user's account profile in the admin dashboard
Locate the Status line
Select the new status you want to assign (e.g. Active or Inactive)
FAQs
Can an automation reactivate a Blocked user?
No. Any attempt to change a Blocked user's status to Active through an automation or standard flow will return an error. Only a direct admin action can change the status of a Blocked account.
Will a Blocked user count toward my active user billing?
No. Like Inactive users, Blocked users do not count toward your active user count.
Can a Blocked user still log in to the app?
No. Blocked users lose access to the app, the same as Inactive users.
When should I use Blocked instead of Inactive?
Use Blocked when you want to ensure the account cannot be reactivated without explicit admin approval - for example, if a user has an unresolved issue, a payment dispute, or an access violation. Use Inactive for standard offboarding where reactivation through normal flows is acceptable.
