The Seam integration in Optix connects your space's access control system to your Optix dashboard through a single integration. Instead of managing separate integrations for each access control provider, Seam gives you unified access to 30+ supported providers. Currently confirmed providers include:
Salto KS
Salto Space
dormakaba Ambiance
dormakaba Community
ASSA ABLOY Visionline
ASSA ABLOY Vostio
Additional providers such as Avigilon Alta and Brivo are expected to be available soon. Seam also supports consumer smart lock brands such as Schlage and Yale, often through PIN code access depending on the device.
Once connected, Optix can automatically grant or remove physical access for your members based on their plans, bookings, assignments, check-ins, or allowances. No more manually adding users to your access control system one by one.
With the Seam integration, you can:
Automate access provisioning: Grant and revoke door access automatically based on plans, bookings, assignments, check-ins, and allowances
Support multiple providers: Connect to 30+ access control brands through a single integration
Mix and match systems: Include locks from different providers in the same access group (e.g., Salto for the lobby + Brivo for upstairs)
Enable mobile unlock: Allow members to unlock doors directly from the Optix app using Tap to Unlock (provider-dependent)
How the Seam integration works
How the Seam integration works
The Seam integration connects three key pieces: your access control hardware, Seam access groups, and Optix mapping rules.
1. Connect your access control provider through Seam
Admins install the Seam App in Optix and connect their access control provider account. Optix pulls in the available locks and devices from Seam.
2. Create access groups
Admins organize their locks into Access Groups (called "Spaces" in Seam). An access group is a collection of locks or devices that should be granted together. For example, you might create groups like "Main Entrance," "Conference Rooms," or "Premium Member Access." A single group can include locks from different access control providers.
3. Map Optix items to access groups
Admins map Optix items (plans, resources, locations, or allowances) to access groups. When a member meets the mapped criteria, Optix automatically creates an access grant through Seam. When the criteria no longer applies, Optix removes the access.
4. Members receive access automatically
When a member qualifies for a mapped access group, Optix looks up the member in Seam by email, creates a user identity if needed, and issues an access grant. The member can then unlock doors using the method supported by their provider (mobile key, PIN code, or provider-managed credential).

Note: Support should always be confirmed for your exact provider, account type, lock model, and desired access method before finalizing implementation. Not every Seam-supported provider is guaranteed to work with every access method.
What can be mapped to access groups?
What can be mapped to access groups?
Optix supports mapping the following items to Seam access groups. Each mapping type controls when a member should be granted or revoked access.
Plan mapping
Grants access when a member is on a mapped plan. Access is removed when the plan ends or is cancelled. You can map a single plan to multiple access groups.
Resource mapping
Grants access when a member books or is assigned to a mapped resource. Access includes a 15-minute buffer before and after the booking period, and is removed when the booking is cancelled or the assignment ends.
Location mapping (Check-in)
Grants access when a member checks in to a mapped location. Access is removed when the check-in ends.
Allowance mapping
Grants access when a member has a mapped allowance on their account, whether that allowance comes from a plan, a pass, or was manually added.
How to set up the Seam integration
How to set up the Seam integration
To connect your access control system through Seam:
Navigate to Apps & Integrations from the left-hand menu
Find and install the Seam app
Follow the prompts to connect your access control provider account through Seam
Confirm your locks and devices are visible in the Seam app settings
Create Access Groups and add the relevant locks to each group
Configure your mappings:
Map plan templates if access should come from membership
Map resources if access should come from bookings or assignments
Map locations if access should come from check-ins
Map allowances if access should come from wallet-based access
Save your mappings
Test with a real user and a simple mapped scenario to confirm access works as expected
Pro Tip: Start with a simple setup — one access group, one plan mapping, one test user — to verify the connection before configuring your full setup.
How to do Mobile unlock (Tap to Unlock)
How to do Mobile unlock (Tap to Unlock)
Depending on the connected provider, members may be able to unlock doors directly from the Optix app using Tap to Unlock. This feature is currently supported for select providers (starting with Salto) and requires a White Label App (WLA).
The actual unlock method depends on the connected provider and may include mobile key, PIN code, or other provider-managed credentials.
Note: Mobile unlock (Tap to Unlock) requires a White Label App. It is not available in the standard Optix container app. Members using the container app will see a message directing them to contact their admin.
FAQs
FAQs
How is this different from the existing Salto or Kisi integrations?
The Seam integration replaces the need for individual provider-specific integrations like Salto or Kisi. Instead of maintaining separate integrations, Seam provides a single connection point that supports 30+ access control brands. Your White Label App can be built with either Kisi or Seam, but not both at the same time.
Can I include locks from different providers in the same access group?
Yes. A single access group can contain locks from different access control systems. For example, you could have a Salto lock for the lobby and a Brivo lock for the second floor in the same group. Seam handles the coordination across both systems.
What happens when a booking is cancelled or a plan ends?
Optix automatically removes the corresponding Seam access grant. The member will no longer have access to the doors in that access group.
Does this work with team plans?
Yes. For plan-based access, Optix expands team plans to the individual team members and creates access grants for each user. Team assignment handling should be tested carefully depending on your setup.
Do I need a Seam account?
Yes. You need an account with Seam and with your access control provider. The Seam app in Optix connects through your Seam account to your provider.
Is there a buffer period for booking-based access?
Yes. Resource-mapped access includes a 15-minute buffer before the booking starts and after it ends, so members can arrive early and wrap up without losing access.
Can I use Seam and Kisi at the same time?
No. Your White Label App can be built with either Kisi or Seam, but not both simultaneously. If you are migrating from Kisi to Seam, you will need to switch your WLA build configuration.
Does Tap to Unlock work with the standard Optix app?
No. Mobile unlock (Tap to Unlock) requires a White Label App (WLA). Members using the standard Optix container app will see a message directing them to contact their admin.
Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting
My locks are not appearing in the Seam app.
Verify your access control provider account is connected correctly through Seam
Check that the locks are online and visible in your provider's own dashboard
Confirm your Seam account has the correct permissions for your provider
A member was granted access but cannot unlock the door.
Confirm the member's email in Optix matches their identity in Seam
Check whether mobile credentials need to be created for the member in the provider system
Verify the member is using a White Label App if Tap to Unlock is expected
Confirm the lock supports the expected access method (mobile key, PIN, etc.)
Access was not removed after a booking was cancelled or plan ended.
Check the automation enrollment or access grant history in Optix
If users were manually modified in Seam outside of Optix, a resync may be needed to realign access
Verify the cancellation or plan end event was processed in Optix
The Seam app is showing an error.
Try disconnecting and reconnecting the Seam app
Ensure your Seam account is active and the provider connection is healthy
